A message from Chef Poon…
“In July 2006, I decided to take a sabbatical. After working 7 days a week for more than a decade, I needed some time off! The year has been a whirlwind – I traveled, studied culinary trends, motivated students and appeared at major international events. I conducted Chinatown Tours for Campbell Soup Company chefs from around the world. I traveled to San Diego, Orlando and Dallas to carve watermelons for the National Watermelon Promotion Board. I tried Spanish tapas. I experimented with Japanese, French and Italian cooking methods and ingredients, studied the latest sanitation methods, and was even awarded an honorary doctorate from my alma mater, State University of New York (SUNY) College at Oneonta. It’s been an awesome year. I’m energized and ready to get back to business!”
